INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES IN HARMONY WITH NATURE
GREEN DEAL
A CHALLENGE FOR EVERYONE
According to certified government sources, one third of the waste produced each year is organic. This is the main problem with traditional disposal systems because of the significant environmental impact it causes. Recycling organic waste is an environmental benefit and a key aspect of the Green Deal challenge that we all need to address.
The recovery and processing of organic components from agricultural, industrial and municipal waste streams is beneficial to the environment: Converting these materials into organic fertiliser or stabilising them could significantly reduce their environmental impact and final disposal in landfills.
Composting is a technique that controls and accelerates the natural decomposition process of organic matter. It is an “aerobic biological decomposition process of organic matter under controlled conditions to produce a biologically stable product”. The richness of active microbial flora and microelements makes compost an excellent product for various agricultural applications, from nurseries to field applications.
- Compost increases the water holding capacity of the soil and improves its structure.
- It reduces the use of chemical fertilisers, supporting the growth of organic farming.
- It helps to increase crop production, ensuring the reliability of the food supply.
- Composting organic material from municipal waste streams stabilises the material and makes it available for land reclamation or landfill cover.
The objective of composting is to break down and transform a mixture of organic matter using aerobic bacteria and fungi. This takes place under specific conditions, such as the presence of oxygen, moisture and a balanced carbon/nitrogen (C/N) ratio. Industrial composting reproduces a natural process in a controlled and accelerated manner. For over 25 years, ZAGO has been working intensively to imitate nature and reintegrate organic waste into a natural cycle. Our close collaboration with experts in the natural sciences and agriculture has resulted in modular products and solutions that guarantee optimal ecology with economic efficiency.
Technological solutions for the processing of organic and/or industrial waste within an ecological cycle are addressed to the following sectors:
- Landscaping and gardening professionals
- Composting facilities
- Greenhouses
- Agricultural and livestock farms
- Land reclamation projects
- Water purification and sewage treatment plants
- Biogas plants
- Municipal
- Waste collection and recycling centres
- Resorts, theme parks, zoos
- Producer market
ZAGO / KRAUSE is a global supplier of equipment and systems for the mechanical and biological treatment of solid organic waste, offering its expertise and technology for all required applications.
The product range covers all key stages of waste processing: pre-shredding/bag opening, screening/separation, shredding/mixing and biological treatment. By combining products from our range with equipment from leading brands, we can provide solutions to the most complex challenges.
THE ZAGO GREEN DIVISION DESIGNS EQUIPMENT FOR THE MECHANICAL AND BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT OF WASTE STREAMS.
- Reduce the amount of waste that needs to be disposed of in regulated landfills or incinerated.
- Minimise the volume and weight of processed materials to facilitate more economical transportation.
- Optimise material flows to achieve maximum added value for saleable products.
- Achieve high quality compost targets with reduced processing times:
- Achieve stabilisation of organic matter to avoid anaerobic fermentation.
- Ensure effective sanitation to eradicate pathogens from source materials.
01 Preparation
Pre-shredding, combined shredding and mixing produces a homogeneous particle size and mixture. Non-organic materials can be screened out to provide a contaminant-free feedstock optimised for the composting process.
